The Boss: The Technical Sales Representative reports directly to the hiring sales leader, who is closely involved in the New Jersey market and maintains hands-on oversight of the territory. This leader is supported by an experienced regional sales organization and works in close proximity to the market, ensuring accessibility, coaching, and consistent support. The management style emphasizes field execution, accountability, and collaboration between sales and operations.
The Position: The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for expanding market presence across New Jersey by aggressively developing new business and selectively growing existing accounts. This is a field-intensive, consultative sales role focused on transactional rental solutions for general contractors, mechanical contractors, and commercial customers.
The role requires extensive prospecting, jobsite visits, and face-to-face selling. While some existing relationships may be supported, the primary emphasis is on new customer acquisition and territory growth. Strong local service and operational support allow the TSR to remain focused on revenue generation while delivering a high level of customer responsiveness.
Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned): Prospect, develop, and close new business within the assigned New Jersey territory Drive transactional rental revenue with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and commercial customers Conduct in-person sales calls, jobsite visits, and solution-based presentations Collaborate with operations and service teams to deliver customized rental solutions Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline management, and sales forecasting Stay current on equipment offerings, applications, and relevant industry trends Spend the majority of working time actively selling in the field
Qualifications: Proven success in outside B2B sales Demonstrated hunter mentality with consistent new business development success Ability to thrive in a high-activity, field-based sales environment Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Education and Experience: 3–5+ years of successful outside sales experience Experience in HVAC, mechanical, construction, or industrial sales preferred Experience selling to general contractors or mechanical contractors strongly valued Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field preferred
