SQL Database Administrator – Responsible for reviewing and complying with policies and procedures. Responsible for data analysis and database management. Involved in maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning. Knowledge of or gain knowledge in the utilities and production tools used for data storage management to support the Applications. Proficiency in PowerShell or Python. Designs logical and physical databases; reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database. Establishes physical database parameters. Uses SQL to define database objects using DDL and controls access to database objects using DCL. Describes database-to-database management systems and directs others in coding database descriptions. Calculates optimum values for database parameters and memory usage following manuals. Specifies user access levels for data items and what data can be accessed by users. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database. Enters SQL to create production databases. Uses database utility programs and third-party utilities to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and available memory. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system. Reviews and corrects programs. Answers user questions. Confers with coworkers to determine the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs for making changes. Modifies database programs to increase processing performance (performance tuning). Workers typically specialize in one or more types of database management systems. Aids in planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters within the database environment. Evaluates users’ requests for new data elements and systems, incorporates them into the existing shared data environment, and provides technical assistance. Coordinates the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy, loads databases, and reorganizes as needed. Performs data modeling and prototyping. Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models. Performs security recovery procedures. Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements. Maintains data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and sets standards for use of data dictionary. Monitors database performance and recommends efficiency improvements. Creates test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures. Executes procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures. Assists with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security and with monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems. Assists with the installation of database software and with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases. Assists in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases and with establishing and controlling necessary database security. Assists in the selection of database management software. Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems design; of computer operations, systems, and procedures; of project control and cost estimating techniques; of computer programming languages; of data processing flowcharting techniques; of database structures and theories; and of current database technologies. Requirements

Installation & Configuration: Required. 3–5 years – Configure SQL Server on physical hardware, VMs, and cloud IaaS virtual machines. Security & Compliance: Required. 3–5 years. Enforce data masking, encryption (TDE), and Row-Level Security for internal customers. Database Maintenance: Required. 3–5 years. Manage automated indexing, statistics, and integrity checks across fragmented environments. PowerShell / CLI Automation: Required. 2–3 years. Automate hybrid environment configuration using PowerShell, dba tools, and Cloud CLIs. Performance Tuning & Monitoring Hybrid Performance Monitoring: Required. 2–3 years. Analyze metrics across physical servers, IaaS VMs, and PaaS endpoints. Query & Index Optimization: Required. 3–5 years. Identify bottlenecks, rewrite T-SQL, and resolve locking/blocking issues. Hybrid Infrastructure Management: Required. 2–3 years. Manage connectivity between on-premises SQL Servers and cloud environments. Azure SQL / AWS RDS/GCS: Required. 2–3 years. Configure Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, or AWS RDS SQL Server. Cloud Migration: Preferred. 1–2 years. Move workloads from on premises to cloud using Azure Database Migration Service or AWS SMS. CI/CD & Database Versioning: Preferred. 1–2 years. Schema deployment automation via Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions using Flyway or Redgate. Multi-Tenant
