In this role, you will provide evidence‑based physical therapy evaluation and treatment for patients across the continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, and post‑acute settings. You will perform comprehensive musculoskeletal, neurologic, and functional assessments; develop individualized, measurable treatment plans; and deliver hands‑on interventions such as therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re‑education, manual therapy, gait and balance training, and patient and caregiver education.
Working within Altru’s collaborative, community‑owned health system, you will partner closely with physicians, nurses, occupational and speech therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, effective, and timely care. The Physical Therapist will provide education to patients and families on home exercise programs, equipment use, fall prevention, pain management strategies, and lifestyle modifications that support long‑term function and wellness. You will contribute to discharge planning, recommend appropriate durable medical equipment, and assist with referrals to community resources and follow‑up services. The role may include working with a diverse caseload such as orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, post‑surgical, pediatric, and geriatric populations.
Aligned with Altru Health System’s culture of compassionate care, innovation, and community commitment, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence‑based practice projects, and continuing education to maintain and advance clinical competency. You will support and mentor students or new staff as appropriate, share knowledge with colleagues, and uphold departmental standards, safety practices, and infection prevention protocols. This position offers engaging, patient‑centered work in a supportive, team‑oriented environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
The ideal candidate is patient‑focused, organized, and collaborative, with strong clinical reasoning skills, excellent communication, and a genuine desire to improve functional outcomes and quality of life for individuals in the Grand Forks community. Flexibility to work a varied schedule based on patient and department needs and the ability to safely perform the physical demands of patient handling and mobility assistance are essential.
