Dyslexia Paraprofessional - Job Description
Position Summary
The Dyslexia Paraprofessional supports students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties by providing targeted instructional assistance under the direction of a certified teacher or dyslexia specialist. This role focuses on reinforcing structured literacy interventions and helping students build reading, writing, and spelling skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering structured literacy interventions (such as phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension activities).
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce reading and writing skills.
- Support lesson preparation, including organizing materials and resources.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and participation.
- Provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress and needs.
- Help maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with classroom management and student behavior support as needed.
- Support accommodations outlined in IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) or 504 Plans .
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to ensure consistency in instruction.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- May assist students with classroom tasks and transitions.
Qualifications Profile
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma.
- Associate's Degree or passing grade on the Paraprofessional Exam
