Dyslexia Paraprofessional - Job Description
Position Summary
The Dyslexia Paraprofessional supports students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties by providing targeted instructional assistance under the direction of a certified teacher or dyslexia specialist. This role focuses on reinforcing structured literacy interventions and helping students build reading, writing, and spelling skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering structured literacy interventions (such as phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension activities).
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce reading and writing skills.
  • Support lesson preparation, including organizing materials and resources.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and participation.
  • Provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress and needs.
  • Help maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom management and student behavior support as needed.
  • Support accommodations outlined in IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) or 504 Plans .
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to ensure consistency in instruction.

Qualifications Profile
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma.
- Associate's Degree or passing grade on the Paraprofessional Exam
