As our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the strategic development of SEN policy and provision within the school.
• Designing and delivering targeted interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
• Assessing and monitoring pupil progress in line with their EHCPs.
• Conducting annual reviews and acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Collaborating with multi-agency teams and leading on Early Help initiatives.
• Supporting individual learning plans in partnership with the Headteacher, Tutors, and parents.
• Coordinating day-to-day SEN operations and maintaining accurate records.
• Providing guidance to colleagues on effective teaching programs and behavior management strategies.
• Overseeing intervention groups and evaluating their effectiveness.
• Ensuring smooth transitions for pupils transferring to or from other schools.
• Promoting inclusion in the school community and access to all activities.
• Teaching commitment (50/50) with a preference for secondary teaching experience, ideally in Science.

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

• Qualified Teacher Status.
• National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to pursue the new NPQ for SENCOs.
• Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
• Background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
• Experience in delivering training and leading INSET sessions.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Conduct.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for learning.
