Your RoleAs our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the strategic development of SEN policy and provision within the school.
- Designing and delivering targeted interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress in line with their EHCPs.
- Conducting annual reviews and acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Collaborating with multi-agency teams and leading on Early Help initiatives.
- Supporting individual learning plans in partnership with the Headteacher, Tutors, and parents.
- Coordinating day-to-day SEN operations and maintaining accurate records.
- Providing guidance to colleagues on effective teaching programs and behavior management strategies.
- Overseeing intervention groups and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Ensuring smooth transitions for pupils transferring to or from other schools.
- Promoting inclusion in the school community and access to all activities.
- Teaching commitment (50/50) with a preference for secondary teaching experience, ideally in Science.
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to pursue the new NPQ for SENCOs.
- Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
- Background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
- Experience in delivering training and leading INSET sessions.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Conduct.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for learning.
