Job Summary

Reporting to and under the general direction of the Manager of Client Services, this position is responsible for duties related to the day-to-day management, support and deployment of IT hardware, as well as assist with the resolution of end user support requests.

Job Duties Include

  • Provide technical support of hardware and software (i.e. Microsoft 365 applications, etc.) in person, using remote access software or by telephone;
  • Prepping and deploying laptops/desktops and mobile devices;
  • Deploying and setting up computer monitors and docking stations;
  • Assisting with smartphone deployment and replacement;
  • Maintain IT hardware asset inventory;
  • Create IT software documentation and training material;
  • Create content for the IT intranet page including tips and tricks and general information;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school, directly related to Information Technology;
  • Demonstrate a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Windows 11, M365 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams);
  • Experience with various IT hardware ;
  • Experience with Smartphones and tablets an asset;
  • Ability to stay on task and work independently;
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills;
  • Proven customer service skills (on phone and in person when dispatched);
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn;
  • Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record;
  • Ability to lift/carry and transport equipment that weighs up to 25 pounds.

What is Offered to Staff

  • Compensation : We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position ( College : $ $19.55; University Undergraduate : $ $21.71; Masters : $ $22.79; post-graduate : $ $24.4)
  • Hours of Work – The hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. This role requires students to work in the office.

Please note that students are not eligible to the EFAP program.

Terms of Employment

  • May 4th, 2026 to August 28th, 2026 (approximate dates)
  • This position works on-site from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Proof of Enrollment in Post Secondary Education

  • The Town of Ajax will accept any of the following to verify enrollment in a college or university program:
  • Registrar's letter confirming enrollment and academic eligibility for the next semester;
  • Letter confirming your anticipated graduation date;
  • Letter indicating that you have more credits left to complete in your current degree;
  • Letter confirming your application to a program next term/semester at a post-secondary education establishment.
