Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized support. In this role, you will work closely with residents to promote independence, safety, and well-being within a supportive environment. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalized care and assistance.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or hospice care
- Utilize proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts for resident transfers and ensure safety during mobility assistance
- Conduct patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior and report findings appropriately
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks as needed
- Document care activities accurately while respecting patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to ensure resident safety at all times
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, autism spectrum disorders, and hospice or palliative care is advantageous
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain these certifications if not already certified is required
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with transfers using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety awareness
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times
