Job Summary
Dojo Gelato is hiring a hands-on Shift Manager / Keyholder for our Findlay Market shop. This is a working shift lead role — you'll be scooping gelato, running register, serving guests, and helping with espresso drinks while also leading the shift and handling keyholder responsibilities. This is not a "clipboard supervisor" job._ Sunday availability is required year-round. (Sundays and Mondays are historically our full-time manager's days off, so Sunday coverage is coverage-critical.)_
Retail Seasons & Shop Hours
Findlay hours:
- Tue–Fri: 8:30am–6:00 pm (scheduled to 6:30 pm as a buffer)
- Sat: 7:30am–6:30 pm
- Sun: 9:30am–4:30 pm
This position is for Findlay Market and is scheduled for daytime/weekend coverage. No night hours are required for this role.
Availability & Expected Hours
- Required (year-round): Sundays: 9:30 am–4:30 pm
Additional shifts (especially April–September):
- 2–3 additional daytime shifts/week at Findlay (Tue–Fri and/or Saturday close)
Typical shift needs for this role include:
- Sunday: 9:30 am–4:30 pm (required)
- Saturday close: 2:30 pm–6:30 pm (strongly preferred)
Weekday leadership coverage as needed: 8:30 am–6:00 pm, Tue–Fri depending on the weekly schedule
Expected weekly hours:
- October–March: typically 12–18 hours/week (Sunday + 1–2 additional shifts)
- April–September: typically 20–28 hours/week (Sunday + 2–3 additional shifts; may include Saturday close)
What You'll Do (Hands-On + Keyholder)
- Lead the shift while actively working the counter
- Scoop gelato, run register, serve guests
- Help make espresso drinks / barista work (barista experience helpful but not required — we will train)
- Support cleanliness, restocking, dishes, and light back-of-house tasks as needed
- Open/close duties and checklist execution
- Cash handling, drawer counts, end-of-shift deposit procedures
- Coach team members in the moment and maintain hospitality standards
- Handle customer service needs calmly and professionally
- Communicate issues/needs clearly (Slack) to owner and/or manager, and flag supply needs
Minimum Experience & Requirements
- 1+ year as a shift lead/keyholder/supervisor in food service or hospitality (2+ years a plus)
- Reliable and punctual (coverage-critical role)
- Comfortable on your feet and moving for most of the shift
- Reliable transportation required
- Driver's license preferred but not required (public transit is possible, but you must be consistently on time)
- Employment is contingent on a background check. (Keyholding and cash-handling role.)

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
