This is a role for a technical professional who thrives on long-term consultative selling styles for capital expenditures. They'll serve as a face of the organization while managing complex projects from cradle-to-grave.
Company and Position Summary
Our client is a leader in the thermal processing industry, known for offering challenging career opportunities and professional training. They are seeking a Sales Engineer to join cross-functional teams to market, sell, design, build, and support the heat treat industry with atmosphere furnaces and aluminum brazing (CAB) lines. This person will act as a critical liaison between the customer and the internal engineering teams, ensuring that the customer's technical needs are met with the best possible solution.
Location: Remote with preference on the Rust Belt
Territory: North America (sales' focus is divided by product, not region)
Reports to: Director of Sales
Key Responsibilities
- Serve the atmosphere furnaces and aluminum brazing (CAB) lines acting as the primary internal and external point of contact for the sales team
- Build a deep understanding of the customer experience
- Develop strategies to improve the customer experience and grow market share, including marketing campaigns, pricing modifications, and supply chain optimization.
- Manage the full sales cycle: solicit leads and inquiries, understand customer goals, assist in technical application, and negotiate final prices and terms.
- Act as the customer liaison and, as necessary, Project Team Leader from purchase order acknowledgement through equipment acceptance (on-time, on-budget, and on-spec).
- Develop name recognition for the company by participating in seminars, trade shows, and industry events, including presenting technology papers.
- Analyze competitor products, pricing, and value propositions to maintain a competitive edge.
Position Requirements
- Proven sales experience in the thermal processing industry or 5+ years of proven industrial sales experience
- Strong aptitude to succeed in a technical and relationship-driven business.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization, taking direction and leading others across various functions.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events.
- Knowledge of actionable market segmentation and analysis.
- Self-directed and organized with the ability to work independently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to energize teams.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including walking industrial floors and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
