Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee daily operations at our new VALS location in Baton Rouge. Strong leadership skills, extensive culinary knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional food service are musts. As a key member of our management team, you will ensure the smooth functioning of kitchen activities, maintain our standards of food quality and safety, and foster a positive and fun environment for staff and guests alike.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to optimize food costs.
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff on proper food handling, cooking techniques, and safety procedures.
- Manage shift schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels during peak hours while controlling labor costs.
- Conduct interviews and participate in hiring processes.
- Assist in budgeting efforts by controlling food costs and managing operational expenses effectively.
- Lead by example in maintaining a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, training & development, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in restaurant management or kitchen supervision.
- Extensive experience with strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with previous supervising or management experience in hospitality or food service industries.
- Knowledge of inventory control, budgeting, and food production processes including catering or banquet management preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shift schedules efficiently.
- Experience with staff training & development programs to enhance team performance.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
Pay: $75, $85,000.00 per year
