Antinoz Café, located at 5826 Babcock Rd, San Antonio, is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our growing Italian kitchen. This role directly supports Chef Ali and is essential in maintaining quality, consistency, and strong kitchen leadership.

Position Summary
The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen. You will assist Chef Ali with daily operations, food execution, prep management, and staff training, while maintaining a calm and professional presence during busy rush periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Remain calm, professional, and focused under pressure
- Prepare and cook all menu items to Chef Ali's standards
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
- Supervise line cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers
- Train staff on recipes, prep procedures, and workflow
- Maintain quality, taste, portion control, and presentation consistency
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with health codes
- Manage daily prep lists and maintain organized stations
- Communicate inventory needs and assist with ordering
- Keep the kitchen running efficiently during rush periods
- Uphold Antinoz Café's standards for speed, accuracy, and consistency
Requirements
- Availability on weekends and evenings
- 2+ years of kitchen experience (Italian cuisine a plus)
- Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good knife skills and solid cooking fundamentals
- Must stay calm, professional, and composed during rushes
- Clean, reliable, and professional appearance
Preferred Experience
- Italian restaurant background
- Pasta, pizza, or sauté experience
- Experience training junior cooks
- Familiarity with organized prep systems
Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay (based on experience)
