Our growing logistics company in Huntsville, Alabama, is looking for a reliable Shipping & Receiving Associate to manage the inflow and outflow of goods. In this critical role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming shipments and the final check for outgoing orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. You will be responsible for unloading trucks, verifying shipment contents against purchase orders or shipping manifests, inspecting for damages, and properly staging items for put-away or shipment. Conversely, you'll prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring they are accurately picked, packed, and labeled for transport. Strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety are essential. We provide thorough training on all operational procedures and the mandatory use of PPE to ensure a secure working environment. Responsibilities:
- Unload and receive incoming freight using appropriate equipment.
- Verify quantities and condition of goods against shipping documents.
- Inspect shipments for any damage or discrepancies and report them promptly.
- Accurately record received and shipped items in the inventory management system.
- Stage outgoing shipments, ensuring correct orders and destinations.
- Prepare shipping documents, labels, and manifests.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and shipping area.
- Adhere to all company Safety policies and procedures, including proper Lifting techniques.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience in a shipping and receiving or warehouse role.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.
- Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace Safety and experience using PPE .
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of inventory control principles and Logistics best practices.
