CIBC Global Asset Management (CGAM) is one of Canada's largest asset management firms with approximately $300 billion in assets under management and possess over forty-five years of experience designing and implementing client solutions. We are leaders in providing a broad range of high-quality global investment management solutions to retail and institutional clients.
Our assets include those under institutional money management for pension funds, endowments and insurance funds, private wealth management, and those that are part of the CIBC family of mutual funds such as CIBC Mutual Funds and Renaissance Investments family of funds and the CIBC family of managed portfolio solutions such as Managed Portfolio Services (MPS), Personal Portfolio Services (PPS), Frontiers Pools, Axiom Portfolios.

Reporting to the CIO and MD, Multi-Asset & Currency Management, this role is responsible for identifying, constructing, and managing a range of innovative Best in Class investment solutions that make a significant contribution to establishing and then sustaining CGAM as a global leader in Absolute return investing.

How you'll succeed
Portfolio Management : Develop, implement and manage an innovative absolute return 'quantamental' top-down cross-asset investment strategy that identifies and arbitrages relative opportunities across a broad universe of equity country and sector indexes, sovereign and credit fixed income markets, currencies, and commodities. Design and build an alpha engine and supporting risk management and portfolio construction infrastructure in partnership with quantitative team colleagues. Ensure the developed strategy is diversifying, accretive, and has the requisite performance features to drive client demand (including, but not limited to, consistently top quartile performance within a representative peer universe), and is complementary to the firm's existing single asset class capabilities.
Strategy Innovation : Identify and collaborate with CGAM colleagues to design, launch, and manage other innovative and diversifying 'quantamental' absolute return investment strategies. These may include, but are not limited to, commodities, capital structure and merger / event-driven arbitrage, relative value alpha strategies in volatility and dispersion, and strategies that arbitrage index mechanics, forced flows, rebalancing patterns, concentration dynamics, and liquidity distortions that result from passive flows.
Team Support & Collaboration : Support and mentor PMs across CGAM's investment teams in the design of enhancements to their investment processes and risk management and portfolio construction infrastructure and procedures. Actively mentor less experienced PMs to ensure CGAM portfolio management practices are consistently Best in Class
Business Development Activities : Provide support to the firm's Business Development activities in the build-out of a world class absolute return investment platform. To include participation at conferences, webinars, podcasts, and meetings, as well as authorship of relevant white paper research notes. Particular focus on Quebec.
Who you are
You're a certified professional An undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree in business, finance and/or economics is desired. CFA and/or CIM designations required. Designation by OSC as an Advising Representative is required.
You can demonstrate your experience. 15+ years of relevant experience as a senior investment professional with advanced knowledge of capital markets and rigorous portfolio and risk management expertise across a range of asset classes. Demonstrated ability to deliver consistently strong investment performance across different market environments. A well-respected and known professional in Canada's investment industry who understands the investment needs of a range of clients.

Able to concisely explain highly technical information to audiences with varying technical expertise.
