Plant Accountant – Manufacturing - Millville, NJ Overview: A well-established, high-volume food manufacturer is seeking a Plant Accountant to oversee and optimize the financial performance of its production facility in South Jersey. This individual will serve as a key financial partner to operations leadership, ensuring that cost control, budgeting, and reporting processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with company goals. Key Responsibilities Manage the plant’s financial operations, including cost analysis, inventory valuation, and production reporting. Track and evaluate manufacturing expenses such as materials, labor, and overhead to maintain accurate product costing. Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses. Investigate and explain deviations between actual and planned results; recommend process or cost improvements where applicable. Maintain accurate accounting of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories in coordination with production and supply chain teams. Partner with plant and corporate leadership to develop cost-reduction initiatives and process efficiencies. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements. Support financial reporting and present key metrics and insights to senior management. Contribute to the enhancement and documentation of financial procedures and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. At least 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting; manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred. Strong foundation in cost accounting and inventory control. Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP or accounting systems. Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
