We're planning for The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - The Distillery Winter Village A time of year when over one million people visit the Distillery District to capture the magic of the holidays and create lasting memories with family and friends
It's also an ideal time for you to capture a few extra dollars after your current restaurant has quieted down for the year and shifts have become a bit scarce. Join us for 7 weeks of busy dining rooms and as many shifts as you need We can offer relatively flexible schedules (ideally you can give us at least three shifts per week) and a super work environment
The Distillery Restaurants Corp., creators of Cluny Bistro, El Catrin, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, Madrina Bar y Tapas and Distillery Events (The Distillery District- Loft and Archeo) are seeking experienced and motivated Prep and Line Cooks with a passion for creating an exceptionally crafted dining experience. The ideal candidate not only understands that exceptional food is at the heart of hospitality but that they are an ambassador to Toronto's unique food and beverage culture.

You must already have legal permission to work in Canada to be considered for this role.

What you'll experience with The DRC:

  • $ $20.00 PER HOUR, plus tips and food discounts at all our restaurants.
  • CAREER GROWTH Learn under the guidance of the DRC's talented Executive Chef team led by Culinary Director, Chef Tim Miles.

What you'll be doing:

  • Preparing food according to recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set out by our Executive Chef
  • Operating standard kitchen equipment with caution
  • Maintaining clean and organized stations
  • Following FIFO method to maximize product freshness
  • Moving food products and supplies between outlets when necessary
  • Reporting any equipment/utensil malfunctions/deficiencies to Chef on duty
  • Working collaboratively with BOH team members
  • Encouraging the DRC's core beliefs and values on a daily basis
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

What you'll bring to the kitchen:

  • EXPERIENCE. You have at least two - three (2-3) years of cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING. You've graduated with a culinary degree/diploma or it's in process. It's possible that school wasn't your thing, but you've got the equivalent to a college education through a combination of education and experience.
  • PASSION. You have a genuine passion for food and a drive to create.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS. You demonstrate exceptional relationship-building and communication skills among your team members at the restaurant.
  • ADAPTABILITY. You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • PERSONALITY. You're humble coupled with a good sense of humour.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT an entry level position. You must have more than one year of cooking in a professional environment to be considered for this role.
