Über

Thompson Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Water & Sewer Construction Estimating Manager to join our head office in Spruce Grove, Alberta. In this role, you will lead the estimating efforts for water, sewer, and underground utility projects, providing oversight, guidance, and technical expertise to ensure accurate, competitive, and compliant tender submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and summarize tender documents to determine scope of work and assess potential risks
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, standards, and regulations to identify opportunities and support accurate costing
  • Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Oversee quantity take-offs, quantity reconciliation, and estimate development completed by the estimating team
  • Obtain and review quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they are complete, compliant, and cost-effective
  • Manage and track tender addenda, clarifications, and submission requirements
  • Lead the completion of full tender proposal packages for management review
  • Provide support and mentorship to estimators and junior team members
  • Collaborate with site supervision and project management to develop execution plans after award
  • Attend meetings related to pre-tender, post-tender, and project startup
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5–10 years of estimating experience in water & sewer or underground utilities within Alberta
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an estimating environment is preferred Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility construction, site development processes, and geotechnical considerations
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe or Bluebeam, MS Project, and B2W Software
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure
