JOB SUMMARY
The MRI Device Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of MR Safety Policies, Protocols, and practices as determined by the MRMD, MR Manager and MR Safety Expert. This individual will work directly with the MRSE to monitor and advise on MR scanning of patients with MRI Conditionally approved devices as per FDA labeling. The MRI Device Coordinator is responsible for the production of quality MRI images through knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI scanning and providing high quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine and advanced MR procedures in accordance with facility protocols.
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in advanced MRI applications, including Cardiac MR, advanced MRA examinations, Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), and Functional Imaging.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of MR safety practices as defined by NCH policies and procedures as well as "Standard of Care" in MR Safety as outlined in the ACR Manual on MR Safety.
Research and determine MR conditionality of active and passive medical implants.
Collaborate with the MR Manager, MRMD, and MRSE to adjust protocols and ensure compliance with FDA-labeled conditions for active and inactive implants.
Demonstrate competency in placing active implantable devices (e.g., pacemakers, neurostimulators) into MRI Safe Mode in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with MRI technologists to safely conduct examinations on patients with MR Conditional implants while ensuring adherence to FDA labeling requirements.
Utilize HIS, RIS, and PACS systems effectively for exam ordering, workflow management, image validation, and study completion.
Organize and prepare relevant patient information, reports, and images (including priors) for interpretation.
Conduct patient interviews to obtain relevant medical history; explain procedures and provide patient assistance as needed.
Operate all departmental equipment competently, including power injectors, MR Conditional monitoring equipment, and infusion pumps.
Verify patient identity using two identifiers (name and date of birth) prior to procedures.
Demonstrate organizational values including caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity, and system-wide service standards.
Provide comprehensive patient care in accordance with established standards, demonstrating competency across procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served
Demonstrate ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs and knowledge of growth and development and the range of treatment of the patients.
Monitor the general condition of the equipment at all times, operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures, and document and report failures in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
Identify normal and abnormal imaging findings and escalate concerns to the radiologist or supervisor as appropriate.
Maintain adequate inventory of medical and clerical supplies; assist with stock rotation and linen management.
Establish and discontinue IV access as required for exams.
Escort patients to and from examination areas; observe, document, and report patient conditions and reactions to medications or treatments to providers.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School or GED required.
Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program/Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Nuclear Medicine/Radiation Therapy/Sonography Program in approved school.
Registered with ARRT in Radiography (R) or ARMRIT (MRI) within one year of employment.
Certification as MR Safety Officer by the International Board of MR Safety.
Minimum 5 years experience as MRI Technologist preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
