Bring your expertise, lead with empathy, and grow into a high-impact role in a thriving privately owned practice.
At Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital (PPAH), we believe great medicine happens when veterinarians have autonomy and mentorship. We foster a culture built on empathy, collaboration, courage, and joy — values that guide how we care for patients, clients, and each other.
We’re a 6-doctor, multi-location, privately owned small animal practice — no corporate bureaucracy, just a passionate team committed to excellent medicine and each other.
*Our Mission: Supporting the Human–Animal Bond*
At Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital, our mission is to strengthen and honor the special bond between pets and their people. We believe pets are family, and every decision we make — from medical recommendations to client communication — is designed to nurture that relationship. Our doctors and team members work to empower pet owners with knowledge and compassionate care, so they feel supported at every stage of their pet’s life.
We’re seeking an experienced DVM ready to deepen clinical expertise and pursue a clear pathway into leadership or a future Medical Director role as our hospital continues to grow.
*Why This Role Is Different*
* Shape Your Future Here — Whether your vision includes medical leadership, mentoring younger DVMs, or pursuing a specialty focus, we’ll help you build it.
* Autonomy with Collaboration — Practice medicine your way while benefiting from a team of peers for consults, case reviews, and advanced procedures.
* Private Practice Advantage — Decisions happen in-house, not in a corporate office. Your input influences protocols, technology investments, and culture.
* Well-Equipped to Support Advanced Care — Digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house lab, dental & surgical suites, and a robust support staff-to-doctor ratio so you can focus on what you do best.
*Our Culture in Action*
* Empathy: We value deep client relationships and compassionate patient care.
* Collaboration: Doctors support each other with open case discussion and mentorship.
* Joy: We celebrate wins and maintain a positive, team-focused environment.
* Courage: We encourage exploring new treatments, expanding skill sets, and leading change.
*Medical Director Track — A Clear Path to Leadership*
We are intentional about growing future leaders. For experienced veterinarians with the desire to influence medical standards and mentor colleagues, we offer a defined development path toward a Medical Director role:
* Leadership Mentorship: Direct coaching from ownership and current leadership on people management, hospital operations, and financial decision-making.
* Strategic Involvement: Participate in equipment decisions, workflow optimization, and practice growth planning.
* Team Development: Mentor new graduates, support CE, and help shape a positive workplace culture.
* Compensation Growth: Transition to leadership includes additional financial incentives and decision-making influence.
This track is ideal for a doctor who wants to elevate their clinical impact while stepping into a bigger-picture role without leaving day-to-day medicine behind.
*Work-Life Balance You Can Trust*
* 35–40 hours/week over 4–5 days — no punishing schedules
* Protected time for client follow-up, CE, and leadership development
* Overnight technicians handle emergencies at our South location so you can rest off-shift
* Consistent schedules to help plan your life outside the clinic
*Compensation & Benefits*
* Competitive base salary + production bonuses
* 401(k) with match, health, dental & vision coverage• CE allowance, licensing & membership fees covered
* Liability insurance included• Paid time off, parental leave, and flexible scheduling
* Employee discounts on services & products
* Additional compensation & decision-making influence for those advancing on the Medical Director track
*Who We’re Looking For*
* Licensed DVM/VMD with 2+ years of small animal practice experience
* Strong general medicine & surgery skills; mentoring mindset is a plus
* Interest in leadership, practice growth, and influencing culture
* Alignment with our core values — empathy, collaboration, courage, and joy
