POSITION OVERVIEW Halo is currently in search of a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help grow the platform from early‑stage product/market fit to massive scale. Bootstrapped with no marketing spend, Halo signed 12 Fortune 500 customers and reached $500k in ARR. Following its recent fundraise, Halo is at a critical inflection point and looking for a player/coach engineer interested in taking on a leadership role. As engineering lead, you will have an outsized impact on product direction and the overall success of the company. While the opportunity in front of us is large – the $2 trillion global R&D market – your work will also help accelerate scientific innovations that impact our world.
What you’ll do
Work with the CEO and design team to develop product roadmap, break down technical projects into milestones and prioritize features according to customer needs, effort and impact
Hands‑on coding
Establish and maintain efficient process for QA and testing
Identify and drive the adoption of new technologies and engineering best practices
Coach junior engineers, provide constructive feedback on code reviews and cultivate a culture of learning, iteration, and continuous progress
Who you are
You have 4+ years of software development experience with full‑stack web applications
You are highly proficient in React and Rails. If not Rails, you are highly proficient in Django or have shown a demonstrated ability to learn new languages quickly. Bonus points if you have DevOps experience with an emphasis on AWS
You have experience collaborating with design and product teams in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing startup environment
You have an entrepreneurial mindset with excellent product instincts and communication skills
You have a track record of owning and successfully executing technical projects
You are a player/coach who wants to lead an engineering team in the near future
You seek out and appreciate feedback while not being shy to share your own
You love rolling up your sleeves and building things from scratch
You take your work seriously but don’t take yourself too seriously. While technically a job, this shouldn’t feel like work because you’re inspired by the mission and energized by the challenge
