About the role As Branded Content Editor at The Rundown, you'll own our newsletter takeover program end-to-end. Takeovers are our highest-value sponsorship product — where a sponsor partners with us to deliver a full issue. We're currently running 1-2 per month and scaling to 4x/month by year's end.
You'll produce every takeover: shape the angle, structure the piece, work directly with sponsor teams (often C-suite), and hold the editorial bar high enough that we would send it regardless of whether it was sponsored or not. You'll work closely with our sales team, Managing Editor, designer, and writers.
Key Responsibilities
Produce 4 takeovers per month end-to-end:
Own the full production cycle for each Sunday takeover - kickoff with sponsor, angle development, interview prep, copywriting, editorial review, final delivery.
Shape the angle and structure:
Our current takeover format includes executive Q&As, hot seat questions, AI workflows, community Q&A, and lightning rounds. You'll own this format, evolve it, and enforce it.
Work directly with sponsor teams:
You'll be the main editorial point of contact for deals with executives at major AI companies. Push back on weak angles, and coach their teams toward better content.
Copywriting and editorial execution:
You'll write and edit significant portions of each takeover yourself - intro framing, transitions, callouts, and polish passes.
Coordinate across teams:
Sales (sponsor intake and commercial terms), Managing Editor (editorial alignment), writers (for support), and design (visual assets).
Build repeatable systems:
As we scale from 1-2 to 4+ takeovers per month, you'll need playbooks, briefs, sponsor-facing templates, and workflows so quality doesn't drop with volume.
Our ideal candidate
Sponsored content or brand journalism experience:
You've produced sponsored content at a publication, content studio, or brand.
Editorial judgment:
You can read a first draft and know immediately what's wrong. You can push back on a CMO with confidence and taste.
Strong copywriter:
You don't just coordinate - you can write and edit at the bar our readers expect. You have samples to share.
Project management at speed:
Multiple takeovers in flight simultaneously, weekly delivery cycles, sponsor stakeholders in different timezones.
Comfortable with high-ticket sponsor relationships:
Executive stakeholders, high expectations.
AI-fluent:
You use AI tools daily to accelerate research, drafting, and production, but know when it's applicable to use AI and when not to. You can cover AI topics credibly with sponsors whose products are in the space.
What we offer

A global team that is passionate about the future of AI, media & education.
Competitive compensation, flexible hours & fully remote work.
