ROLE PURPOSE The Program Management Underwriter will be responsible for driving our due diligence process, monitoring performance, and implementing corrective actions to maintain underwriting excellence across delegated authority programs. Working closely with the Director of Program Management, this position serves as the primary contact for Hadron’s MGA partners and ensures alignment with company standards while adapting to specific surplus lines market requirements. This role is essential to Hadron's strategy of partnering with specialty underwriters and risk capital partners to thrive in a data-centric and niche risk marketplace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Drive the due diligence process for evaluating new MGA/MGU partnerships
Serve as project manager for the diligence workflow from diligence through program launch
Coordinate with internal teams to conduct comprehensive analysis of prospective partners
Manage documentation, milestones, and key deliverables throughout the due diligence process
Prepare and present due diligence findings to senior leadership and approval committees
Develop program implementation plans following approval
Oversee program launch activities and ensure smooth transition to ongoing management
Create standardized onboarding materials for new program partners
Performance Monitoring
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for assigned programs
Analyze program performance data and prepare regular reports
Conduct detailed portfolio analysis using advanced analytics tools
Build and maintain data visualization dashboards for program performance
Identify emerging trends in underwriting data
Support program performance analysis and reporting
Monitor compliance with underwriting guidelines
Assist in identifying trends in risk performance using predictive analytics
Monitor program profitability metrics
Support the development of financial forecasts
Audit & Renewal Support
Track audit findings and recommendations
Monitor implementation of corrective actions
Coordinate renewal process internally and with partner
Update relevant due diligence items and review program terms for renewal
Stakeholder Management
Act as primary contact for US MGA/MGU partners
Partner with internal teams to ensure operational effectiveness
Coordinate with claims department on loss trends and mitigation strategies
Work with underwriting teams on guideline refinements
Interface with claims TPAs and other service providers
Prepare presentations for management review meetings
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
7+ years of experience in program management or portfolio underwriting within the US surplus lines market
Strong understanding of portfolio management principles and underwriting analytics
Demonstrated track record of managing and improving program performance
Experience with US MGA/MGU operations and delegated authority oversight
Project management experience, particularly in due diligence or implementation processes
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets
Experience with non-admitted carrier operations (preferred)
Knowledge of multiple surplus lines of business (preferred)
Experience with portfolio modeling and optimization tools (preferred)
Background in technical underwriting or actuarial analysis (preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field
CPCU, ARM, or other relevant professional designation (preferred)
Project management certification (preferred)
SKILL SET Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
Experience with underwriting and portfolio management systems
Knowledge of catastrophe modeling and exposure management tools
Understanding of predictive analytics and portfolio optimization techniques
Familiarity with insurance technology platforms
Experience with surplus lines reporting systems
