Kiss the Ground is an audience-supported nonprofit promoting regeneration and healthy soil as a viable solution for human and planetary health. Since 2013, we’ve inspired millions to participate in the Regenerative Movement through storytelling, education, and partnerships. The Role
We are seeking a highly creative, skilled, and proactive Copywriter (freelance) who can translate complex environmental and agricultural concepts into clear, compelling, and actionable messaging across platforms. Through your work, you will: Educate Inspire behavior change Build trust in the Kiss the Ground brand Move our audience toward meaningful action In 2025, Kiss the Ground reached over 20 million people. This year, we are focused on deepening the quality of our content to more meaningfully connect with and educate our growing audience. This role will play a key part in elevating the clarity, depth, and impact of our storytelling. We have an immediate need for a freelance writer/copy editor to contribute 10–20 hours per week. The role will start with a 90-day engagement, with the potential for ongoing collaboration based on mutual fit and performance. This role is ideal for a collaborative team player with a great attitude who thrives in a fast-paced content environment, is receptive to feedback, and is excited to grow and iterate as part of a mission-driven team. Essential Job Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Your work will help: Educate people new to regenerative agriculture Inspire curiosity in how people eat, shop, and engage Build trust and clarity around Kiss the Ground’s mission Move audiences toward action—supporting farmers, choosing regenerative products, and sharing our work Key Responsibilities
Copywriting & Editing (50%)
Write and edit copy across social media, newsletters, website, and marketing materials Craft compelling donor messaging and calls-to-action Support press materials and external brand communications Maintain a consistent, clear, and compelling brand voice across all channels Tailor messaging for different platforms and audiences to maximize engagement and clarity Support CEO communications, including written updates and thought leadership Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, education, and partnerships teams Resource Development (30%)
Research and create consumer-facing guides that make regenerative agriculture accessible Develop content that helps consumers support a more resilient food system through their choices Brainstorm and develop new regenerative resource ideas Vet products and brands for inclusion in consumer resources Translate complex topics into approachable, educational, and actionable content Long-form Content & Thought Leadership (20%)
Support CEO-led interview and thought leadership series Identify and develop a pipeline of interviewees (partners, leaders, and voices in the Regenerative Movement) Craft thoughtful interview questions Support in editing interview answers for partnership collaborations and publications Attend interviews, take notes, and support transcription for 1:1 with Evan series Write introductions and edit final pieces for clarity, voice, and impact Support partnership messaging and ensure alignment with brand voice Qualifications
3+ years of copywriting experience Strong ability to adapt messaging across platforms and audiences through both copywriting and editing Experience working with brand voice and messaging systems Experience writing for mission-driven organizations or brands preferred Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging content Preference for candidates with an authentic, non-agency voice Application Requirements
