The Design Associate is a critical contributor to Morgan Properties’ asset enhancement strategy, responsible for elevating the design quality and functionality of leasing offices, amenity spaces, and common areas across our portfolio. This role directly supports organizational goals by ensuring that design initiatives align with brand standards, operational requirements, and long-term asset value.
This role leads projects from concept through completion, applying technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and strong project management skills. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders—including Operations, Construction, and Asset Management—as well as external partners such as architects, contractors, and vendors to deliver design solutions that are practical, sustainable, and cost-effective.
Success in this role depends on balancing creativity with business objectives, maintaining consistency across diverse property types, and ensuring that all design decisions reflect Morgan Properties’ commitment to quality, functionality, and resident experience.
Essential Duties
Design Leadership
Develop concepts, space plans, and detailed drawings using CAD and design software.
Draft construction notes to ensure design plans are accurately translated and contracted.
Project Oversight
Manage projects from concept through installation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Track costs and identify value engineering opportunities to maximize ROI.
Internal Engagement
Conduct consultations, present proposals, and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Material & Furniture Selection
Specify finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment; coordinate procurement as needed.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Work closely with architects, contractors, and internal teams.
Mentor junior designers to support professional growth and maintain design standards.
Compliance
Ensure designs meet building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability goals.
Third-Party Vendor Management
Support outsourced design services, procurement partners, and specialty contractors.
Monitor deliverables for accuracy, quality, and consistency with design intent.
Provide consultation and feedback to refine outputs and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain strong relationships with external vendors to optimize cost, quality, and timelines.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred.
1-3 years of related experience.
Industry experience in multifamily, senior living, student housing, and/or hospitality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and 2D/3D design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or Chief Architect).
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid driver’s license required.
NCIDQ or similar credentials preferred.

Salary range: $65,000-$75,000/yr
If you are hired at Morgan Properties, your overall compensation package will also be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
