Database Administrator
to support enterprise-level geospatial systems and infrastructure within a federal environment. This role is critical to the maintenance, administration, and performance optimization of GIS platforms, databases, and web applications. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep technical expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise technologies, scripting and automation, and high-availability system design—all within virtualized or cloud-hosted environments. *Contingent upon contract being awarded* Location:

Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting enterprise web-based and GIS applications. Perform daily system monitoring to verify database integrity, availability, performance, and successful execution of scheduled jobs. Implement database patches, upgrades, backups, recovery, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability. Manage user accounts, access privileges, and implement database security controls consistent with federal security and compliance requirements. Coordinate with application and system administrators to support integration of databases with web applications and enterprise GIS systems. Proactively identify and troubleshoot database issues, providing timely incident response and resolution per defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and continuity of operations (COOP) plans to meet Recovery Point and Recovery Time Objectives. Prepare compliance documentation, system security plan updates, vulnerability remediation reports, and support audits. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, database schemas, processes, and standard operating procedures. Interface with Government IT teams to facilitate application and system deployments Provide knowledge transfer, mentoring, and training sessions to technical staff as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later; SQL Server 2019 preferred). Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, indexing, backup/recovery strategies, and high-availability configurations. Experience with database security, compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, HIPAA), and implementing access controls. Familiarity with integration between SQL Server databases, ColdFusion-based applications, and GIS systems. Experience with database monitoring and logging tools (such as Splunk or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in production environments. Knowledge of ITIL-based change, release, and configuration management processes. Ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation. Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders, technical staff, and management. Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances and complete mandatory federal security/privacy training. LEARN MORE ABOUT US Innovate!
