Lead Copywriter Primary Purpose The Lead Copywriter consistently produces dynamic, high‑quality concepts and fresh, engaging copy, from attention‑grabbing headlines to long‑form pieces. As a versatile writer this position will manage short, attention‑grabbing headlines and long‑form thought leadership pieces. They will also contribute to marketing campaigns for our partners within marketing and stakeholders from across the business through a wide variety of channels: blogs, websites, social media, events, digital programs, printed media or video content and more. The Lead Copywriter will also lead and demonstrate mentorship by coaching and guiding newer members on the team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Partners with art directors and designers to develop cohesive, creative campaigns that support our brand strategy and growth marketing initiatives, as well as the essential services and solutions Sedgwick offers.
Works hand‑in‑hand with design partners to storyboard and script a library of video content, taking complex (but static) current stories and finding fresh, engaging ways to share our message.
Pro‑actively identifies opportunities to strengthen content performance by demonstrating best practices, creative inspiration, and identifying audience insights that will drive stronger engagement.
Writes marketing content including product overviews, solutions campaigns, product demos, customer campaigns, client testimonials, and thought leadership with minimal oversight from Creative Director.
Manages complex integrated campaign requests across multiple channels and deliverables to individual channel specific requests with quick turn‑around needs.
Develops new ways to engage with a range of audiences through social and digital channels, both organic and paid media placements.
Reviews copy for accuracy and consistency, proofreading and/or editing as necessary.
Performs independent research and interviews with internal subject matter experts to develop original content that will help tell our thought leadership story, along with client and customer stories.
Maintains a working knowledge of our core lines of business, including property, casualty, benefits, workers’ compensation, etc.
Leads junior members of the writing team and creative agency in their growth and development as content creators, marketers and corporate citizens.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel as required.
Qualifications Education & Licensing Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or journalism, with relevant experience in fields like marketing, advertising or public relations.
Experience
10+ years of agency experience (B2B and/or B2C), with a history of work across mediums and channels, building integrated campaigns across all forms of video from broadcast to digital and social content.
SEO knowledge and digital content creation will be critical for this role.
Experience working with external production partners to help drive creative to production process.
Experience leading and/or mentoring junior colleagues.
Portfolio is required for application review process and consideration.

Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.

Compensation and Benefits As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. The range of starting pay for this role is $100,000 – $135,000. A comprehensive benefits package is offered including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
