divh2Patient Care Assistant/h2pEmployee works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to specific patient populations. Education, License, Cert Current high school student enrolled in the Northern Tier Career Center Pre-Nursing Program. Experience No experience required. Essential Functions Participates in the delivery of patient care for population groups under the direction of an RN/LPN including but not limited to the following:/pulliLifting, turning, and positioning patients utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment ( 35 pounds), as appropriate./liliAM/PM Hygiene care/liliActivities of daily living (ex. Toileting, shaving, washing, brushing hair, dental and mouth care)/liliFeeding/liliAssisting with range of motion exercises/liliMobilizing patients - transfers and ambulation, utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment ( 35 pounds), as appropriate and following the Mobility protocol/liliPerforms and records accurately: Temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, heights and weights - I O - Records bowel movements - ADLs and activities/liliTransports patients as needed/liliServes, sets up and retrieves trays/liliDistributes water pitchers as appropriate/liliDistributes nourishment/liliEmpty drains/liliObtain EKG/liliRemove Foley Catheter and peripheral IVs/Saline Locks/liliBladder Scanning/liliTransports equipment/liliParticipates in patient safety/patient satisfaction/liliAnswers call bells/liliParticipates in hourly patient rounding/liliReports any signs of abuse to the nursing staff/liliMaintains neat and tidy environment (empties laundry, delivers equipment, keeps patient rooms clean and safe)/liliInventories and assures disposition of patients belongings when admitted, transferred, and/or discharged/liliAssures proper storage of equipment/liliRecognizes emergency situations and notifies staff/liliNotifies RN/LPN of any changes seen in patients condition/liliComplies with policies and procedures of the hospital/nursing department/liliSupports the philosophy of the hospital and department of nursing/liliMaintains CPR certification/liliDemonstrates cost-effective patient care by demonstrating proper use and care of equipment, appropriate and prudent use of supplies, accurate charging of supplies; performing other division-specific tasks, and appropriate utilization of available resources/liliParticipates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care/liliDemonstrates strong communication and organizational skills/liliAbility to communicate using telephones, computer systems/liliAnswers telephone promptly and politely, identifying self, title, and department/liliReceives and sends messages in an accurate and timely fashion/liliCommunicates with the patients, family, and members of the healthcare team in a concise, tactful and considerate manner/liliMust represent the hospital in a professional courteous manner, while being sensitive to how others perceive both verbal and non-verbal communications/liliOther Duties - Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate/li/ul/div
