Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a dedicated Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive speech-language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations and treatments to adult and geriatric patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and social workers, you will develop and implement evidence-based, patient-centered care plans that support optimal functional recovery and quality of life. Responsibilities include conducting detailed assessments of speech, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing; interpreting diagnostic findings; and formulating individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals. You will deliver individual and group therapy, train patients and families in compensatory strategies, recommend and implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) approaches as appropriate, and document all care in the electronic health record in a timely, accurate manner consistent with regulatory and payer requirements. You will collaborate closely with the care team to participate in team conferences, discharge planning, and ongoing care coordination, ensuring continuity of care across the rehab continuum. As part of Altru Health System, you will practice in a community-owned, integrated health system in Grand Forks, ND, that emphasizes compassionate care, innovation in treatment, and a deep commitment to community health and wellness. You can expect engaging, patient-centered work with strong support for professional growth, including mentorship, participation in quality-improvement initiatives, involvement in program development, and opportunities to precept students. Altru fosters a collaborative environment where your clinical expertise is valued, interdisciplinary communication is encouraged, and new ideas for improving patient outcomes are welcomed. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical skills in adult neurogenic communication disorders, dysphagia management, and cognitive rehabilitation; proficiency with standardized assessment tools; and comfort working with medically complex patients. Excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to evidence-based practice are essential. A master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, current or eligible Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), and state licensure (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist are required. New graduates with strong clinical training and a desire to grow in an inpatient rehabilitation setting are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time position with a primarily on-site schedule, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings options.
