Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a compassionate and motivated Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders across a diverse adult and geriatric population. Working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary rehabilitation environment, you will partner closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, and other members of the care team to develop and implement evidence-based, patient-centered treatment plans. The Speech Pathologist will conduct detailed clinical assessments, interpret diagnostic findings, and develop measurable, functional goals tailored to each patient’s needs and rehabilitation potential. Responsibilities include providing individual and group therapy, recommending and training patients on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies when appropriate, and performing instrumental or clinical swallowing evaluations to guide safe diet and feeding recommendations. You will educate patients, families, and caregivers about communication and swallowing strategies, home exercise programs, and realistic expectations for progress, ensuring that care is both compassionate and clearly understood. Aligned with Altru Health System’s culture of collaborative, community-focused care, the Speech Pathologist will actively participate in interdisciplinary team conferences, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives. You will maintain accurate, timely, and regulatory-compliant documentation within the electronic medical record, contribute to outcome tracking and program development, and support best practices through ongoing professional learning and adherence to current clinical guidelines. This role offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful, patient-centered work, contribute to innovation in rehabilitative treatment, and grow professionally within a supportive, team-oriented environment dedicated to advancing community health and wellness. Employees at Altru Rehabilitation Hospital can expect a work setting where communication, respect, and clinical excellence are highly valued. You will be encouraged to pursue continuing education, specialty interests within speech-language pathology, and participation in mentorship—either as a mentor or mentee—depending on your experience level. This position is ideal for a clinician who is driven to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives, thrives in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting, and is committed to compassionate, evidence-based care in service of patients, families, and the broader community.
