divh2Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant/h2pThe Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides assistance to the occupational therapist in developing and implementing occupational therapy treatment, procedures, and related activities for direct patient care./ph3Essential Functions/h3ulliPromotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service standards./liliCompetent Services: Provides skilled occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed occupational therapist, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups. Conducts treatments according to professional standards (AOTA)./liliProductivity Standards: Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line./liliDocumentation and Billing: Keeps thorough and timely patient records as required by regulations and facility policies. Completes patient billing accurately and promptly./liliCommunication: Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals. Ensures smooth operations and optimal use of rehabilitation services. Communicates patient assessments, progress, and concerns with the occupational therapist./liliContinuing Education: Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements./liliQuality Improvement: Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, patient experience and all aspects of the Intermountain Operating Model. Participates in utilization review audits./liliProgram Development and Marketing: Contributes to program development and marketing strategies to grow the occupational therapy program to achieve department goals./li/ulh3Skills/h3ulliQuality Improvement/liliVerbal and Written Communication/liliPatient Engagement/liliCritical Thinking/liliTime Management/liliCare Planning/liliCompassion/li/ulh3Qualifications/h3ulliCurrent Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the states where you work./liliBasic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers./liliBasic Computer skills./liliExceptional interpersonal and communication skills./liliPossess skill sets and experience with target population of job setting./liliCurrent drivers license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3ulliOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies./liliFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations./liliManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc./liliExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items./liliNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
