Data & Automation Finance Manager Fully remote position located anywhere in the USA.
Responsibilities The Data & Automation Finance Manager oversees the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial information that informs the American Red Cross’s financial planning and decision‑making. The role leads efforts to gather and analyze complex financial data, develop insights, and deliver clear recommendations and reports to senior leadership. Incumbents are responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving financial systems, processes, and procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The role also provides support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers, helping to build financial capability and promote best practices across the organization.

Data Modeling & Analytics
Design, build, and maintain robust financial data models (e.g., Power BI / Power Pivot / SQL‑based models) that support forecasting, reporting, and decision‑making.
Partner with Finance leaders to translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions.
Ensure data integrity, transparency, and traceability of financial metrics and calculations.
Data Engineering & Integration
Integrate multiple data sources (e.g., ERP, planning systems, operational tools, external data) into consolidated, automated finance datasets and reporting tools.
Develop and manage data pipelines that support timely, accurate, and repeatable financial insights.
Collaborate with IT, Data, and Security teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
Automation, AI & Advanced Tools
Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive finance processes using scripting, low‑code/no‑code tools, and AI‑enabled solutions.
Apply AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics techniques where appropriate to enhance forecasting, anomaly detection, scenario analysis, or workflow automation.
Continuously evaluate emerging tools and technologies that can improve finance efficiency and effectiveness.
Training, Enablement & Change Leadership
Develop training materials, documentation, and best practices to upskill Finance teams in the use of data models, dashboards, and automated tools.
Lead workshops or hands‑on training sessions to increase data fluency and self‑service analytics capabilities across Finance.
Act as a change agent, driving adoption of new tools and ways of working.
Leadership & Collaboration
Manage project priorities and deliverables across multiple initiatives, balancing speed, quality, and stakeholder needs.
Provide mentorship and guidance to analysts or associates supporting data and automation initiatives.
Serve as a trusted partner to Finance leadership, combining technical expertise with strong business judgment.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to develop project plans; demonstrated proficiency in collaboration, facilitation, planning, problem‑solving, and leadership; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proficiency in the use of personal computers, word‑processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable; ability to work on a team.
Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout the Red Cross system.
Competitive Edge
Experience with AI/ML applications in finance (forecasting, process automation, anomaly detection).
Strong experience building financial models and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Power Pivot, Excel, SQL, or similar platforms.
Experience working in an agile or product‑oriented environment.
Strong instructional or training background, with a passion for developing others.
Demonstrated experience automating processes using code (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA) or automation platforms.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical finance audiences.
Compensation The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $125,000. American Red Cross salaries are aligned with the geographic location where the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, the number of years of experience you have, and comparisons to other employees already in this role.
