This is a mid-level QA/QC Engineer (MEP/Cx) is needed to support data center commissioning and quality activities in an onsite contract role based in Palisades, New York. The position focuses on executing the client's QA/QC program across L1-L5 commissioning phases, with responsibility for inspections, documentation, issue tracking, and coordination with subcontractors and vendors.
This is a full-time onsite contractor position requiring 40 hours per week, with potential overtime. It is also a traveler role, and project-based assignments may be located anywhere within the United States, with expenses covered.
The selected candidate will support field QA/QC functions for data center construction and commissioning projects. This role is best suited for professionals with prior experience in data center commissioning, MEP QA/QC, field engineering, commissioning engineering, or construction quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Review MEP project drawings, approved submittals, and specifications as needed.
Inspect incoming MEP equipment and complete required receiving checklists in the designated software platform.
Conduct preparatory phase meetings with subcontractors and confirm readiness for onsite work, when required.
Review MEP mockups for equipment or specific systems in accordance with project specifications.
Document and track QA/QC deliverables and test reports during L2 and L3, including NETA, short circuit study, torque/megger sheets, and TAB documentation.
Ensure all set-in-place inspection checklists are completed by internal teams and subcontractors/vendors.
Perform foreign object debris (FOD) inspections inside MEP equipment, when required.
Perform final equipment inspections prior to L3 energization.
Ensure all L3 document deliverables, including startup reports, are completed and submitted.
Assist in the development of methods of procedure (MOPs) for specific equipment and systems.
Track and organize all L1-L3 documentation in Procore or other required software platforms.
Record observations and issues during walkthroughs and inspections.
Manage observations and issues in the required software platform and ensure timely closeout.
Required Qualifications:
3 to 5 years of data center experience
2 to 5 years of QA/QC experience
OSHA-30 certification
Procore experience
Experience with MOP development
Equipment startup and energization support experience
NETA testing documentation experience
TAB (Testing, Adjusting & Balancing) knowledge
Short circuit study documentation experience
Construction drawings and submittal review experience
Vendor and subcontractor coordination experience
QA/QC documentation management experience
Field inspection and punch list management experience
Strong communication skills and self-starter mindset
Ability to travel 50% to 75%
Preferred Qualifications:
NFPA-70E knowledge or certification
USACE certification
Experience with Cx Alloy or Facilities Grid
Prior data center construction experience
Strong safety compliance and site safety awareness
