The Opportunity
If you’re the person people turn to for specialist knowledge on hydraulic hose applications, this role puts you right at the centre of a busy engineering environment. You’ll step in as the in‑house authority on hose solutions, owning how technical enquiries are understood, translated, and delivered.
You’ll work closely with customers, engineering, purchasing, and operations to bring structure, accuracy, and confidence to the way technical information flows through the business. Your ability to interpret drawings, guide decision‑making, and support new product introduction will have a direct impact on service levels, product accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Technical Sales Manager Responsibilities:
Technical Interpretation: Reading engineering drawings and specifications to determine accurate hose requirements and produce informed quotations.
Enquiry Management: Handling a high volume of technical enquiries, including multi‑drawing quote requests, and ensuring responses are timely and accurate.
Site Visits: Visiting customer sites when required to inspect hose assemblies, understand application issues, and recommend suitable replacements or alternatives.
Technical Guidance: Acting as the internal specialist for hose‑related queries, supporting colleagues and customers with clear, confident advice.
New Product Introduction: Supporting the introduction of new hose products; defining requirements, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring accurate setup within internal systems.
Cross‑Functional Coordination: Working closely with engineering, purchasing, and operations to ensure technical solutions are delivered effectively.
Ideal Technical Sales Manager:
Technically Strong: Deep understanding of hydraulic hoses or fluid transfer systems, with the confidence to advise on applications and solutions.
Commercially Aware: Experience in technical or internal sales, comfortable managing enquiries and supporting customers.
Detail‑Focused: Able to interpret engineering drawings and convert technical information into accurate quotations.
Clear Communicator: Confident explaining technical solutions to both internal teams and external customers.
Organised & Proactive: Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
Adaptable: Comfortable working within a growing business where processes continue to evolve.
Location:
Chesterfield (Office‑based with occasional site visits)
Technical Sales Manager Salary:
Circa £45,000 depending on experience.
