Team Overview Our Cloud Core Infrastructure team navigates the massive, shifting ocean of data, compute, and artificial intelligence. We maintain the “vessels” (GKE clusters), the “charts” (Terraform), and the “treasure vaults” (HashiCorp Vault) that keep Banno afloat. We’re looking for an Engineer who hears the call of the open sea—the vast, unexplored potential of the deep.
Location & Travel This is a remote position and candidates must live within approximately a 70‑mile radius of our office locations in Lenexa, KS, Springfield, MO, or Monett, MO.
The salary range for this position is $70,000–$100,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level. This role may require occasional travel, up to 8 % for meetings, training, or conferences.
All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in‑person onboarding requirement to verify identity.
Responsibilities
Watchkeeping: Monitor our GKE and Dataflow horizons for any sign of trouble using Datadog and Honeycomb.
Maintain the rigging: Use Terraform to ensure our cloud resources are sturdy and well‑labeled.
Secure the cargo: Learn secret management within HashiCorp Vault to keep our keys out of the wrong hands.
Ship’s log: Document discoveries so the next explorer knows the way.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Enrolled in or graduate of a computer science, software engineering degree program, or bootcamp.
Experience with scripting in Go or Python to automate tasks.
Experience with Docker or Kubernetes (and familiarity with Pods).
Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
Exposure to big data services such as MongoDB, Spanner, or BigQuery.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Insatiable curiosity: You ask “why?” until you understand the physics of failure.
Spirit of exploration: You view a complex Terraform plan or massive BigQuery dataset as a map of a new world rather than a chore.
Love for the sea: You appreciate that infrastructure is a living ecosystem and value the stability of tides.
Resilience in the gale: When a Spanner node lags or a Dataflow job hits a reef, you stay calm and solve problems.
