Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) is an independent, non‑profit organization leading the way in rural health care transformation across a nine‑county region of the North Country. AHI supports hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health providers, community‑based organizations, patients and others in our region to advance equity, quality, access, and affordability of health and healthcare services.
We are seeking a Digital Navigator for the 18‑month North Country Digital Inclusion Coalition (NCDIC), a collaborative effort between AHI and Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO). The NCDIC is supported by the NYS ConnectALL Digital Equity Program. This grant is an 18‑month program, commencing January 1 2026 through June 30 2027.
Responsibilities
Assist individuals and small groups with accessing affordable home internet service, internet‑capable devices, and introductory digital skills.
Assess clients’ abilities, including access to technology, digital skill levels, and internet needs, and work with them to set and achieve goals.
Provide tailored coaching and training to help clients build confidence using devices, internet services, and online tools.
Share information about free or low‑cost home internet options, assist with applications, and support clients through the enrollment process.
Connect clients to low‑cost computers, device repair resources, and maintenance support, helping them to obtain and maintain devices.
Coordinate NCDIC work with existing program and partner efforts, including in‑person and virtual training through libraries, community organizations, and NCDIC partner events.
Track client progress, document services provided, and report outcomes to measure programmatic impact.
Educate policymakers and stakeholders on website accessibility and usability challenges affecting community members.
Support outreach and engagement, including presentations, to promote the Digital Navigator program and Coalition activities.
Participate in NCDIC meetings to foster partnerships, track progress, and strengthen collaboration.
Complete other duties as needed to support equitable digital access in the North Country.
Education & Experience Associate’s degree in human services, education, communications, information technology, social work, or a related field is required; a bachelor’s degree in one of these areas is preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Candidates should have at least two (2) years of experience working directly with community members, clients, or the public in a support, outreach, education, customer service, or social services role, including experience providing instruction, coaching, or guidance to individuals or small groups. Experience working with diverse or underserved populations and coordinating programs, partnerships, or initiatives is required. Experience supporting individuals in navigating benefits, applications, or service enrollment processes is strongly preferred, and experience delivering trainings or community education in person or virtually is a plus.
Other Skills Successful candidates will be skilled in using computers, mobile devices, and internet‑based tools and will demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities. They will bring a customer‑focused approach, the ability to respond flexibly to diverse needs, and the capacity to learn and explain basic technology concepts to individuals with varying skill levels. Key strengths include curiosity, problem‑solving, active listening, empathy, and emotional intelligence, as well as the ability to assess client needs, set achievable goals, and provide individualized or small‑group support while building trust and positive relationships.
Other Requirements The Digital Navigator will have the ability to work remotely, and must be able to travel throughout the ConnectAll service area (Clinton, Franklin, Essex, and Hamilton counties). Travel is primarily during the business day. Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle, or evidence of mobility within the service area.
Functions include but are not limited to: must be able to write and speak clearly using the English language to convey information; hear at normal speaking levels in person and over the telephone; walk or stand; use fingers and hands to feel objects; remain in a stationary position for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a grant‑funded position. The program cycle will run January 1 2026 – June 30 2027.
Position schedule: Full‑time; Monday through Friday. Status: Exempt. Pay range: $25.00/hr – $32.59/hr. AHI provides a friendly and challenging work environment and a comprehensive benefits package.
