Lead AI Software Engineer (Full Stack / RAG Focus)
Location: Remote (EST/CST preferred)
Employment Type: Part-Time (5–8 hrs/week to start; scalable to 15–20 hrs/week; potential Full-Time in 6+ months)

Role Overview Our client is seeking a hands‑on Lead AI Software Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority across its AI‑driven platform. This highly technical, execution‑focused engineering role is centered on backend architecture, RAG pipelines, AI model training workflows, API integrations, and production scalability. The platform has already been developed and is entering a scaling phase. This individual will serve as the final technical approval layer for pull requests, ensure architectural integrity, implement guardrails, and integrate AI systems across conversational workflows and structured training pipelines. Candidates must have real‑world Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
Develop model training workflows and structured data ingestion systems
Integrate conversational AI workflows into scalable backend systems
Lead backend architecture and API integration effortsOversee Firebase and related data infrastructure
Review, approve, and merge pull requests in GitHub
Serve as final technical quality gate before production deployment
Implement AI guardrails and reliability controls
Partner with leadership to translate business objectives into technical execution
Required Qualifications
5–10 years of software engineering experience
Proven experience designing and scaling production‑grade platforms
Strong backend engineering expertise (APIs, integrations, data systems)
Hands‑on experience building and deploying RAG pipelines
Experience training or fine‑tuning AI/LLM systems
Conversational AI implementation experience
Experience with GitHub workflows and pull request approvals
Experience with Firebase or comparable data platforms
Strong knowledge of TypeScript and Python (Java a plus)
Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in startup or early‑stage growth environments
Familiarity with LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar orchestration frameworks
Experience scaling AI‑first SaaS platforms
Experience working in distributed or remote engineering teams
Exposure to voice or avatar‑linked AI systems such as Eleven Labs (not required)
Success Metrics
Stable, scalable RAG pipeline architecture
High‑quality backend integrations and clean API design
Strong pull request governance and production readiness
Seamless integration between conversational flows and AI models
Platform scalability without performance degradation
