Field Service Technician , come grow with us!
Reporting to the Manager, Field Service, the Field Service Technician is responsible for field service work performed on HPS products on‑site. Communicates requirements to Production, Testing, Engineering and Quality Assurance and assists with elimination of similar issues in the future. Assists customers with troubleshooting and coordinates/performs various tests on units requiring repairs or modifications. The incumbent must be available for emergency situations and eligible for international travel. This position can be a remote position in the East Coast of the USA or work out of one of our offices with options for Baraboo, WI or the Mesta office in North Huntingdon, PA.
Key Responsibilities Include
Determining material needs and ensuring they are produced and shipped to site.
Verify that kits are complete, tested and functioning correctly.
Coordinating site visits with HPS Sales and/or Customers.
Preparing site work instructions for HPS personnel
Preparing site work instructions when customers agree to make site changes themselves.
Generating Field Service Reports and cost summaries for each trip.
Updating and maintaining the FPR SharePoint site and Field Service Calendar.
Generating field service reports on a standardized format
Preparing field service cost summaries for billing purpose
Analyzing field service data for trends and initiating necessary corrective actions at the applicable facilities, departments and individuals.
Developing and providing the required training to HPS personnel assigned to Field Service activities including L1 Field Service Techs.
On‑Site Commissioning and/or Testing Support.
Witness Loading / Unloading of product.
Completing mechanical rework, including changing out any damaged or defective parts.
Witness of final installations.
Completing any customer requested modifications.
Do you qualify? We are seeking:
Degree or Diploma in a technical field (Technician/Technologist)
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in similar role
Transformer Testing Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of various types of transformers and their applications
Sufficient knowledge of electrical theory in relation to transformers so that test results can be properly interpreted
Experienced user of measuring and testing devices, hand tools, scopes, etc.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Project)
Proven project management capability
Background in magnetics or transformer construction/design
Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
