Under the direction of the Chief, Public and Media Affairs Office, an Information Officer II, the Graphic Designer II is responsible for the concept, development, and production of complex graphic design work as it relates to District 8. The incumbent works independently to create highly professional and difficult design in public awareness campaigns, public information documents, exhibits and a wide range of graphic arts products for the Public Information Office, as well as assisting other Divisions and units on their graphics needs.

Working Conditions
Position located at 464 W Fourth St, San Bernardino, CA, San Bernardino County.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
While at the base of operation, employee works in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. Multi floor buildings are equipped with elevators and stairs.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Describe your experience developing professional visual communication materials from concept through final production using industry- standard graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud). • Specific examples of projects you have designed (print, digital, or multimedia). • Your role in conceptual development and problem-solving. • How you ensured your work met accessibility, branding, and technical standards.
2. Provide an example of a time you managed multiple design projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. In your response, describe: • How you organized your workload and communicated with clients or project stakeholders. • Tools or methods you use to track progress and maintain quality. • The outcome of your project(s) and what you learned that would help you succeed as a Graphic Designer II at Caltrans.
