Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician LV1 must comply with all plant GMP, SQF Quality and Safety, Food Safety and Bio-Security procedures. The Quality Assurance Technician will enforce quality assurance, food safety and quality control policies and programs throughout the company to verify that Biery Cheese products are manufactured consistently and in accordance with the customer expectations, regulatory and SQF standards of quality. The individual can work off-shifts and weekends. This position will be backed up by another Quality Tech LV1 or Quality Tech LV 2.
Payrate and Shift:
3rd Shift: Monday - Friday 2:55pm - 11:00pm Payrate: $19.50 per hour; Shift differential $1.00 Occasional Mandatory OT including weekends
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Train, coaches, mentors, empowers and develops good GMP practices with all team members. Maintains compliance and handles all non-compliance and deviations in a swift manner. Monitors packaging (CQP#1) and process cheese manufacturing (CCP#1) operations for quality/ Food Safety compliance issues. Properly documents line checks in Redzone and ensures accuracy and completeness in paperwork Files paperwork appropriately as needed Perform and document Metal Detector Checks in redzone Develops, advises on and coordinates continuous quality improvement initiatives Ensures compliance with quality policies throughout all internal departments. Assist in preparation as needed for USDA/FDA audits, SQF third-party audits, military, and organic audits. Ability to create/maintain and investigate in-house product testing. Conduct Sanitation Pre-Op inspections Support production personnel's quality needs on the production line. Complete Redzone Quality checks in a timely manner. Support bulk cheese grading personnel and be able to allocate bulk cheese based on grading results. Ability to conduct daily sensory reviews on our process cheeses (CCP#2). Perform weekly air sampling testing/ maintain program/ documentation. Assist in "Red Flag" product monitoring and new product launches Other duties as assigned The above list of responsibilities is not inclusive and can/ will be changed/ amended as needed to present our customers and consumers with the highest quality, safety, and secure products from Biery Cheese Requirements:
Skills to provide guidance including leading teams, problem solving, tenacity and integrity. Ability to multi-task and prioritize the completion of tasks with respect to importance/ deadlines Ability to understand HACCP and the key components of a HACCP program Able to work independently and work efficiently with little or no supervision Ability to research and interpret trends and potential compliance risks. Ability to collect, analyze and present facts in written and oral communication Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong technical expertise in food safety, regulatory compliance, USDA, FDA, HACCP, SQF and GMPs

Work Environment:
The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions working around moving machines in production facilities, protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required. May be able to work in a cold environment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Ability to work in multiple areas of the plant and may be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to use distant and peripheral vision, identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
May work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places.
