Position Overview
Step Up ABA is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and highly motivated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our growing interdisciplinary team serving children with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities throughout Washington State.
This position focuses on providing evidence-based speech and language therapy services within an ABA setting while maintaining ethical collaboration, scope-of-practice compliance, and family-centered care. The SLP will work alongside BCBAs, RBTs, Clinical Directors, caregivers, and other professionals to support communication development, social interaction, AAC implementation, feeding support within scope, and functional language acquisition.
The ideal candidate values interdisciplinary teamwork, understands the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and ethical practice, and is passionate about helping children build meaningful communication skills across environments.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
* Conduct speech-language evaluations and reassessments for pediatric clients with autism spectrum disorder and related diagnoses.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable communication goals based on clinical findings and medical necessity.
* Provide direct speech and language therapy services in clinic, home, school, and community settings as assigned.
* Address areas including:
* Expressive language
* Receptive language
* Pragmatic/social communication
* Articulation and phonology
* Fluency
* Voice
* AAC systems and implementation
* Functional communication training
* Utilize evidence-based interventions and data-driven clinical decision-making.
* Implement and monitor augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems when clinically appropriate.
* Provide caregiver education, training, and home programming to support generalization of communication skills.
* Maintain accurate session documentation, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries within required timelines.
* Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings and care coordination.
ABA Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Coordination
* Collaborate professionally with BCBAs, RBTs, Occupational Therapists, educators, and caregivers to ensure coordinated care.
* Maintain ethical interdisciplinary communication while respecting professional scopes of practice.
* Support communication programming that aligns with the client’s individualized treatment plan and speech-language goals.
* Provide guidance to ABA staff regarding communication supports, AAC carryover, and language facilitation strategies within appropriate professional boundaries.
* Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and case consultations as needed.
* Ensure all recommendations remain within Washington State speech-language pathology regulations and ASHA ethical standards.

Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities
* Maintain active Washington State Speech-Language Pathologist licensure in good standing.
* Adhere to all Washington State Department of Health regulations, HIPAA requirements, and applicable payer requirements.
* Follow ethical and professional standards established by:
* Washington State Department of Health
* American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
* Applicable Medicaid and insurance regulations
* Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information.
* Complete documentation and billing requirements accurately and timely.
* Participate in quality assurance initiatives and ongoing clinical training.

QualificationsRequired
* Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
* Active Washington State SLP License in good standing
* Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or Clinical Fellow eligible
* Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities
* Knowledge of AAC systems and functional communication interventions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
* Ability to pass background check and comply with Washington State employment requirements
Preferred
* Experience in pediatric outpatient, ABA, or early intervention settings
* Experience with AAC evaluations and implementation
* Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
* Experience with insurance documentation and medical necessity reporting
* Feeding therapy experience within scope and competency
* Familiarity with verbal behavior and naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions
Physical Requirements
* Ability to move, lift, position, and engage with pediatric clients throughout sessions
* Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and move quickly during therapy sessions
* Ability to utilize computers, tablets, and electronic medical record systems
* Ability to respond appropriately in behavior or safety-related situations
