The Senior Broadcast Design Engineer (IT Systems) supports the Project Manager and Technical Officer with the organization and logistical coordination of all aspects of the CDC Engineering Services. The primary responsibility of the Sr. Broadcast Engineer is to provide engineering services and support to facilitate the design, installation, maintenance and modification of broadcast grade, high definition television (HDTV) IT-based equipment and systems. Other duties may be assigned, directed, or requested by Management. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property. Excellent client service skills. The ability to demonstrate to the client a comprehensive understanding of the needs and requirements of each project. Ability to effectively communicate and work well with other staff members, as well as be a positive representative of the company to other employees and clients. Individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Autodesk AutoCAD, Project, Editing and SAN maintenance software. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform equipment troubleshooting and configurations as required. Provide technical support for special projects and events as needed and/or required. Ability to mentor, train and motivate technical personnel as needed for professional development. Continually reviews and improves products and interfaces. Interacts with customers and business partners when developing interfaces. Works closely with team members and customers to research and troubleshoot issues. Documents systems as they are built. Designs documents that support well designed information systems which are compliant with all CDC, HHS, and federal security guidance for enterprise architectures. Supports the business need of the customer. Documents test results for systems and integration testing and interface testing. Makes recommendations for the technical solutions based on business needs. Manages and Maintains computer systems, demonstrates management skills in planning, organizing, developing, managing, and documenting activities. Provides monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports to OADC from systems as requested. Troubleshoots problems identified by users and communicates the solutions and program changes to the OADC Team and staff. Recommends, develops and provides end-user training for applications and databases as needed. Performs periodic (at least monthly) quality control checks of CDC Websites, reports, and databases. These quality checks shall monitor the accuracy of the information contained on the websites and in the reports and databases. Makes recommendations to improve/enhance the customer/client specifications. Oversees customer needs with on-sight logistics as needed. Takes guidance and direction from the Project Manager for various assignments. Prepares reports as needed, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. Participates in Quality Assurance Programs that include daily inspections and reviews to address areas in need of improvement. Assists in providing alternative approaches to meeting client/customer demands while staying within property guidelines. Continually looks for new and better ways to service groups and internal departments. Demonstrates team building experience. Demonstrates ability to lead by example. Creates courteous, friendly, professional work environment. Performs any or all other duties as assigned. Education/Experience Required
Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum five (5) years of experience in the broadcast, post-production and NLE industries. Physical Demands
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate hand tools, computers, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Frequently required to stand on ladders or objects, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl under or behind objects. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Minimal risk of electrical shock. EOE including Disability/Vet The estimated pay range for this role is $97K to $120K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
