Job Title: SQL DBA Location: Brea, CA (Hybrid) Duration: 12 Months+ Job Description: We are seeking an experienced SQL DBA (Database Administrator) to manage, maintain, monitor, and optimize enterprise database environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in SQL Server administration, database performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and high-availability solutions. This role requires collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure database systems remain secure, reliable, scalable, and highly available. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, administer, and maintain SQL Server database environments. Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity utilization. Perform database tuning, query optimization, indexing, and performance troubleshooting. Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions. Manage database security, permissions, encryption, and access controls. Perform database patching, upgrades, and migration activities. Support production, development, QA, and staging database environments. Troubleshoot database issues, failures, blocking, deadlocks, and replication problems. Configure and maintain Always on Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and failover solutions. Develop and maintain database maintenance plans, scripts, and automation processes. Collaborate with developers and application teams on database design and optimization. Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures. Ensure database compliance with organizational security and governance standards. Participate in on-call support and incident management activities. Required Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA or Database Administrator. Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration. Experience with: SQL Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 Backup & Recovery Performance Tuning Query Optimization Indexing Replication Clustering Always On Availability Groups Database Security Strong knowledge of T-SQL scripting and stored procedures. Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Knowledge of Windows Server environments. Experience with database migration and upgrade projects. Familiarity with cloud database technologies such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
