The Sales Coordinator supports the promotion of Alabama's Beaches as a premier destination for meetings and conventions. This role assists in generating leads, coordinating sales activities, and supporting the sales team in efforts that drive overnight stays and visitor spending in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and unincorporated Fort Morgan. The Sales Coordinator works closely with meeting planners, travel professionals, and local partners to ensure smooth communication and execution of sales initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred. (business, hospitality, marketing, etc.)
• 1-2 years sales and servicing experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems is a plus
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, in person, by telephone, and through digital communication tools.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds, including destination marketing collateral, welcome materials, promotional materials, and other items as required.
• Ability to travel occasionally, work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends and work a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Access to dependable transportation and carry a current drivers' license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in coordinating sales efforts to attract meetings to the destination Support the sales team in identifying and tracking new business Help prepare proposals, presentations, and sales materials Maintain accurate records in the CRM system Assist with logistics for trade shows, sales missions, and client events Coordinate and help conduct site visits and familiarization (FAM) tours
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Generate and qualify meeting leads through research tools, inbound inquiries, tradeshow data, and industry databases
• Research prospective meetings, associations, corporate entities, and group organizations to identify new business opportunities
• Conduct account research and compile background information, historical data, room night potential, and decision-maker details
• Support development of customized proposals, presentations, bids, and destination marketing materials
• Assist with tradeshow preparation, including organizing promotional items and collateral
• Communicate with meeting planners to assess needs and coordinate pre- and post-event services
• Provide complimentary convention services such as welcome bags, digital toolkit, door prizes, and off-site venue referrals
• Build and maintain relationships with local restaurants, attractions, and vendors to support planner needs
• Maintain accurate CRM records, including sales activities, partner communications, lead tracking, and follow-up tasks
• Track and report lead activity, bookings, and economic impact to support sales performance evaluation
• Collaborate with the communications and marketing manager to keep the meetings website and planner toolkit current
• Assist with social media and promotional efforts to drive meeting attendance
• Provide administrative and logistical support to the senior sales manager and vice president of sales
• Represent the organization at community and partner meetings to support tourism development
• Assists with sports coordinating duties as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
