In this role, you will assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures such as left and right heart catheterizations, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), vascular interventions, and other invasive cardiovascular procedures. You will be responsible for preparing procedure rooms and equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functioning of imaging and hemodynamic monitoring systems, and maintaining strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards. During procedures, you will monitor and document patients’ hemodynamic status, operate imaging and monitoring equipment, and anticipate the needs of the physician and care team.
The Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS) will perform accurate hemodynamic calculations, record and analyze waveforms, and document procedure details in the electronic medical record. You will assist with patient preparation and recovery, including verifying patient identity, reviewing pertinent history and consent, establishing IV access as permitted, and monitoring vital signs and patient comfort before, during, and after procedures. You will also support safe administration and tracking of contrast media and medications as allowed by hospital policy, and follow all radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to protect patients, yourself, and colleagues.
You will be expected to respond quickly and effectively in emergent situations such as acute coronary syndromes, hemodynamic instability, arrhythmias, and code events, working within established protocols and alongside the emergency and critical care teams. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives, equipment checks, inventory control, and the maintenance of accurate logs and regulatory documentation to support accreditation and compliance standards.
As part of Methodist Health System’s collaborative and inclusive culture, you will communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues, helping patients understand procedures, addressing concerns, and reinforcing pre- and post-procedure instructions. You will demonstrate accountability for safe, ethical practice and support an environment of continuous learning by participating in ongoing education, skills competencies, and professional development related to cardiovascular technology and invasive cardiology.
Methodist Health System offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings options, reflecting our commitment to supporting our employees as they deliver exceptional care. This on-site role in our hospital setting may require rotating shifts, on-call coverage, and participation in weekend, evening, and holiday schedules to meet patient and departmental needs. If you are a dedicated Cardiovascular Technologist with an RCIS credential or eligibility, and you are passionate about working in a mission-driven environment that values integrity, compassion, and accountability, we encourage you to consider this opportunity to advance your career and impact cardiovascular patient outcomes at Methodist Health System.
