Schedule: Monday–Friday, 07:00–15:30 + call every other week (1 week on, 1 week off)
Dress Code: Red or Black scrubs, or hospital-laundered OR blue scrubs
? Unit Overview:
The Cardiology Unit at SHMC is a high-volume invasive cardiology department supporting a 125-bed hospital, with a strong reputation for cardiac excellence. This unit performs complex cardiac procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Bed Count: 125
Nurse/Tech-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 during procedures
Staffing: Includes RCIS techs and support staff
Technology: GE Core equipment, Mac-Lab for documentation, Meditech EHR
?️ Core Responsibilities:
Scrub for invasive cardiac procedures, including:
Left/Right Heart Caths (LHC/RHC)
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) – 24-hour STEMI facility
CardioMEMS, loop recorders, pacemakers (PPM), ICDs
Support the use of advanced equipment such as:
Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
Impella
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)
Monitor patient hemodynamics and assist in emergent interventions
Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and other techs using a high-functioning team approach
Rotate on call every other week for emergency cases
✅ Required Skills & Experience:
MUST HAVE:
Invasive cardiology scrub experience (monitoring experience preferred)
Proficiency in sterile technique and interventional procedures
Preferred:
Familiarity with STEMI workflow and device implant protocols
Soft Skills:
Strong multitasking
Effective communication
Proven ability to function in a high-pressure team environment
? Certifications Required:
RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) – Required
ACLS (AHA) – Required
BLS (AHA) – Required
