Position Description The Electrical Instrumentation & Control Technician will be an integral part of the maintenance team with responsibility for the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance and troubleshooting of generating plant and equipment to help ensure operations run to strict efficiency, availability, environmental and commercial standards. The successful candidate will work with a wide variety of electrical equipment alongside control and instrumentation systems. This is an opportunity for an ambitious, high-performing individual to work in a dynamic, rewarding and achievement-focused environment. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible and self-motivated, while also supporting other teams and projects as required by site management. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with good problem-solving skills and the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement while communicating effectively with staff at all levels. Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety of staff and contractors through compliance with safety systems, including permits to work, risk assessments and safe systems of work Prioritise, schedule and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure operational continuity Procurement of key services and components Support and develop maintenance activities within the Electrical Instrumentation & Controls team Supervise and manage contractors and external service providers Support site projects and continuous improvement initiatives Perform hands-on planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities in accordance with site policies and procedures, including electrical fault finding, testing and repairs within a power generation or heavy industrial environment Installation, troubleshooting, repair and commissioning of plant equipment Maintain accurate maintenance records using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) Preparation and review of task-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments Experience & Qualifications 2+ years experience within Thermal, Hydro, Renewable Generation, Power Generation or a similar heavy industrial environment FAS / SOLAS / Senior Trade Electrical Craft qualification or equivalent Full driving licence Strong safety focus with the ability to contribute to a positive safety culture Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems and/or Control & Instrumentation systems Understanding of heavy electrical components including transformers, generators, switchgear, motorised valves and motors Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID drawings Experience and technical knowledge of electrical maintenance procedures within power generation or similar heavy process industries Experience with instrumentation calibration and electrical test equipment Strong IT skills including experience using Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
