*Role Summary*
The Master Data Analyst sits within the IT department but operates across all
departments and store locations. This person owns the accuracy and integrity of all data in
Business Central — items, vendors, customers, and inventory — while also serving as an
active user and feedback loop for the programs and systems IT builds to control these
gaps. They audit daily, investigate discrepancies, work directly with stores and
departments to resolve issues at the source, and maintain a formal tracking process that
makes every open issue visible, assigned, and closed. This is not a passive reporting role —
it is hands-on resolution with a system behind it.
*1. Data Audit & Governance*
*Daily item, vendor & customer audit*
* Pull every record created in the last 24 hours across all stores. Validate against the required field checklist: barcode, UOM, cost, vendor link, department, category, and description formatting.
* Correct non-compliant records the same business day before store operations, purchasing, or POS references them.
* Detect and merge duplicate items sharing the same barcode, vendor item number, or near-identical description.
* *Blocked & discontinued items*: Ensure discontinued items are properly flagged in BC and not appearing in store requisitions, being received, or generating sales transactions.
* *UOM consistency*: Verify items are being received and sold in the same unit of measure defined in BC. Case-vs-each mismatches are one of the primary causes of inventory collapse.
*Legacy data remediation backlog*
* Maintain a prioritized backlog of existing records requiring correction — active-selling items with bad data first, inactive and discontinued items second.
* Track backlog progress week over week. Report open count and weekly closures at the Monday KPI meeting.
*2. Inventory Checks & System Integrity*
*Daily inventory integrity checks*
* *Negative inventory*: Daily check of all items showing negative on-hand across all stores. Investigate root cause — receiving entry error, UOM mismatch, POS scan bypass — and coordinate the correct adjustment.
* *Zero-stock active sellers*: Flag items BC shows as out of stock that still generate sales. These indicate a receiving entry gap or master data issue and require same-day investigation.
* *Manual adjustment volume*: Monitor frequency of manual adjustments per store. Repeated adjustments on the same item signal an unresolved upstream issue — not a data fix.
*System-level integrity checks (weekly)*
* UOM consistency scan across all receiving vs. sales records.
* Blocked item leakage check — are blocked items appearing in requisitions or at the register.
* Vendor and customer record completeness — payment terms, linked items, account status.
* Document flow support — assist in identifying stalled POs, unposted receipts, or incomplete orders that have a data root cause.
*3. IT Programs & Systems: Active Participation*
This role is a direct user and feedback provider for the systems IT builds to address these
gaps. The analyst uses these tools daily, validates that they are surfacing the right issues,
and reports back to the IT Director when a program is missing something or producing
incorrect data.
*4. Cross-Department & Store Collaboration*
While this role reports to the IT Team, day-to-day work requires direct coordination with all
departments and store locations. The analyst is the connection point between the data in
the system and the people creating or affected by it.
*5. Issue Tracking & Resolution Management*
Every issue identified — whether from the daily audit, an inventory check, a store report, or
a system alert — must be logged, assigned, tracked, and formally closed. Nothing lives in
email or verbal conversation alone.
Issue log and Escalation triggers are key to this role
*Required Qualifications *
* 1–3 years in data entry, inventory control, ERP data management, or similar
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or a related field.
* Strong attention to detail — accuracy is the job
* Proficient in Excel — tracking, filtering, pivot tables, basic formulas
* Comfortable communicating issues to non-technical store staff and department heads
* Able to manage multiple open issues simultaneously with a structured tracker
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience in wholesale distribution, retail, or supply chain
* Familiarity with item master concepts — UOM, barcodes, vendor item numbers, cost tiers
* Microsoft Business Central or LS Central experience
* Experience supporting cycle count or physical inventory programs
* Basic SQL or Power BI experience a plus
