* Clinical skills
* Exhibits working knowledge of all Diagnostic Radiology equipment and procedures.
* Refers to physician's orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
* Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
* Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
* Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
* Coordinates Radiology schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
* Patient/General Safety
* Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
* Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
* Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
* Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
* Adheres to infection control practices.
* Radiation safety
* Ask females of childbearing age if they may be pregnant.
* Uses proper Radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in childbearing age.
* Routinely wears film badge to monitor Radiation exposure.
* Complete Annual Mandate Radiation Safety
* Wears proper Radiation protection equipment while doing procedures.
* Equipment Maintenance
* Routinely performs proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment.
* Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center.
* Documentation/Communication
* Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams
* Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials.
* Other duties as assigned
* Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the Radiology Department
* Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
* Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
* Provides imaging support for surgical procedures.
* Assist Radiologist with interventional procedures.
* Assist with clinical rotation of radiology program students.
* Experience: 2 years
* Education: Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
* Licensure: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; ARRT (R)Current or Temporary Louisiana State License; Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP
