As an LPN in the Float Pool, you will be scheduled to work on various units based on organizational need, which may include medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, rehab, behavioral health, and specialty areas appropriate to LPN scope of practice. You will perform focused nursing assessments, monitor vital signs, administer medications and treatments as ordered, assist with diagnostic procedures, and provide direct bedside care including hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures. You will document care accurately in the electronic health record, recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition, and reinforce patient and family education under the direction of a registered nurse and provider.
You will collaborate with RNs, physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care. Because this is a float position, you will adapt quickly to different workflows, unit cultures, and patient acuity levels while upholding LifeBridge Health’s standards of safety, quality, and service. Strong communication, critical thinking, and time-management skills are essential as you prioritize care for multiple patients and respond to changing clinical needs.
This position is well-suited for an LPN who enjoys variety, continuous learning, and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. LifeBridge Health’s culture emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, with a focus on compassionate patient care and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. You will have access to ongoing education, in-service training, and opportunities to expand your clinical competencies while contributing to quality and safety initiatives. Working at LifeBridge Health offers the opportunity for career advancement and professional development, whether you wish to deepen your expertise as an LPN or pursue further education.
To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong foundation in practical nursing, proficiency in core clinical skills, and a commitment to infection prevention and regulatory compliance. You must be comfortable using electronic health records, following standardized protocols, and participating in multidisciplinary rounds and handoffs. Dependability, flexibility in scheduling, and a positive, patient-focused attitude are important, as float pool staff are often called upon to support high-volume or high-acuity units.
In return, you will join a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving health and promoting well-being in diverse communities throughout Maryland. You will help ensure that patients and families receive consistent, high-quality care regardless of unit or setting, and you will play a vital role in supporting staffing stability across the system. This role offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to make a meaningful difference every day as part of the LifeBridge Health team.
